The book “Learning from the heart: Lessons on Living, Loving, and Listening”, was written by Daniel Gottlieb, an excellent psychologist who’s endured so much in his life, and was a quadriplegic for more than 30 years. Despite the tremendous adversity that he faced, it made him discover about what humans share in common, the need to be loved, understood, and secured. He turned the trauma into beautiful life wisdoms that inspired and touched his readers’ heart. This book answers the central question of what it really means to be human, what love really is, and the power of listening. Every chapter of this book is heart warming. Gottlieb expresses his insight through classic storytelling in a compilation of essays, keeping readers attentive with positivity and motivation. This book would be a great tool for self-discovery that provokes changes in the way we see, think and react to some rough situations. The author reminds his readers to be easy on ourselves, stop being self-critical, and not trying to change our loved one because of our own anxieties and expectations. This book requires deep reading to understand the author’s message, but for those who enjoy the self-help book genre, this book is for you!
