Meet Haji Mohd Farid Linggi

About Haji Mohd Farid Linggi

Born on December 22, 1943, in Keningau, Sabah, he held firm to the principle of "CULTURE OF READING & WRITING," strengthening his commitment to becoming an author. Academically, he obtained a Master of Science in Education (M.Sc.Ed) in 1979 from the University of Carbondale, Illinois, USA.

In the professional arena, he gained experience in various roles, including teacher, lecturer, and administrator:

  • In 1967, he served as an Assistant Principal and, with the Principal, opened and developed a new school, SMK Putatan.
  • He was the Principal at SMK Bingkor (1971-1973).
  • He worked as a Lecturer at Maktab Perguruan Ilmu Khas, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur (1974).
  • He served as a Lecturer at Maktab Perguruan Kent, Tuaran, as the Head of the English Department (1975-1977).
  • From 1977 to 1978, he served as an Assistant Examination Secretary at the Sabah Education Department.
  • He worked as an Education Officer in the South West Coast (1980-1982) and Keningau (1982-1989).
  • Subsequently, he was appointed by the Curriculum Development Center, Ministry of Education, as an Assistant Director of Senior Education, to coordinate KBSR in the state of Sabah (1989-1994).
  • He became the Principal of SMK Mat Salleh, Ranau (1994).
  • Later, he served as the Principal of SMK Gunsanad, Keningau (1995).

His career concluded in December 1998, with a shift to focus on writing books, including:

  • "SAMUDERA KEMAHIRAN HIDUP" (The Ocean of Life Skills)
  • "KEHIDUPAN DALAM TIGA DIMENSI" (Life in Three Dimensions)
  • "KELUARGA SUKU KAUM GANNA SABAH, MALAYSIA" (The Family of the Ganna Ethnic Group in Sabah, Malaysia)
  • "WARNA-WARNI KEHIDUPAN" (The Colors of Life)

Recognized for his leadership and resilience, he was awarded Tokoh Maal Hijrah in 2007 at the interior Sabah level and selected as the Tokoh Guru of the Association in conjunction with Teacher's Day and the Annual General Meeting of the Sabah State Memorial Association.
